Sharon Keith was honored for her community work with severalorganizations but most notably cancer-fighting fund raising to help local people. Mary Lou Summers, on the left, organized the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Volunteers more than 10 years ago. The organization raises the money to pay for all wreaths at the cemetery and also has an ambassador program to insure no veteran is ever buried without someone present as a witness. Some Alleghany members delivered Winter clothing and gifts to DAR supported Crossnore School in Aveery, NC DAR marks the graves of Revolutionary veterans when possible. This marker was financed by a grant from the State Regent’s project. Revoolutionary Patriot Philip Barger is honored with a Memorial Plaque. Descendants Tom Green and Rosemary Green attended.
